Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, envoy of His Holiness Pope Francis, visited the Lebanese Geitaoui Hospital, accompanied by the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Archbishop Boulos Abdel Sater of the Maronite Archdiocese of Beirut, the President of Caritas Lebanon and an accompanying delegation from the Apostolic Nunciature.
He was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sister Marie Antoinette Saadeh, the general administration, nuns, doctors, nurses, nurses and employees. His Eminence listened to the testimony of one of the doctors who explained how the medical staff, nursing staff and all hospital workers dealt with the calamity that befell them and conveyed His Eminence's concern for their well-being. His Eminence conveyed the Holy Father's interest in Lebanon's mission and emphasized that His Holiness will not abandon the Lebanese.
He spoke to those present and asked them to cling to the faith and not to give up hope in the ability to rebuild the hospital again. His Eminence concluded the visit with a prayer with those present to overcome this ordeal.
